Inside the room of Rick Chandler, he still sat and tried to come up with some good reason to tell his family about why he was home so early. He dared not tell them the truth and then have to explain why he was kicked out of school and had to get out of town. In a last attempt for help he decided to call someone he knew could help him. He would regret this for a very long time but this was his last hope. As the receptionist from Vargas publishing answered, Rick asked to speak to Daniel Chandler. His brother would make him pay dearly but it was only because he was the only one who could help.
After helping Liz get the children out of the kitchen so she could finish dinner, Nick returned to the couch to watch his tape. He sat and waited for the tape to begin. The first shot was of the two eerie black snakes that made the "V" in the Vargas logo. Then to Nicks astonishment on the screen appeared none other than John Vargas himself. He began to speak "Hello there Nicholas, I suppose you are wondering why I sent you this. Well I come to invite you into the opportunity of a lifetime. You have inherited the chance to have everything in your life you have ever wanted…. my son."
